TWO ROSES, consisting of Donese Mayfield and Bonnie Schmader, are a harp and flute duo that have been playing together for 5 years. Their music varies from Celtic to jazz to popular standards and their performances range from weddings to educational programs to concerts. They have been featured soloists with choral groups DeProfundis, Quintessence and Quodlibet, and have performed at the River of Lights, Sunport Serenade Series, and most recently the "Three Cultures, One Language" world music concert at the Kimo Theater. Donese has been a professional musician (organ, piano, harp) for many years. She is UNM Alumni Chapel musician, and is on staff with several Albuquerque hospices offering palliative music to patients in the final stage of their lives. She also has written a teaching curriculum for folk harp, has released two CDs; has recorded as a studio musician; and has taught folk harp workshops across the Southwest.
Playing the flute has been a life-long passion for Bonnie Schmader. After receiving her flute performance degree from Arizona State University, she played in the Mesa Symphony Orchestra and was a music instructor at Mesa Community College and Eastern Arizona College. Since her arrival in New Mexico in 1998, Bonnie has performed with the Symphony Orchestra of Albuquerque, the Albuquerque Worldwind Quintet, Saiorse, Musical Theater Southwest, as well as being "one of the roses". Bonnie uses her "World of Flutes" collection to teach flute and world music at her downtown Albuquerque music studio. Two Roses playlist and booking information:
